About Our Founder
Sylvia Eniang Essessien
Sylvia Eniang Essessien is the Founder and Principal Counsel of Providence Legal Co, a corporate and intellectual property law firm advising businesses in the creative, media, technology and consumer goods sectors.
She is a Nigerian-qualified lawyer with an LL.M in Intellectual Property, Innovation & the Law from Swansea University (UK). Sylvia obtained her LL.B from Baze University, Abuja, and attended the Nigerian Law School, Bayelsa Campus, where she graduated top of her class. Her practice focuses on advising IP-driven and founder-led businesses on intellectual property protection, contract structuring, corporate governance and commercial risk management.
Sylvia has advised companies within the creative and media space, including Magic Carpet Labs Limited, on content production agreements, complex commercial negotiations, investor arrangements and IP strategy. She also advises consumer goods companies operating across African markets on trademark and design protection, licensing, enforcement and cross-border commercial agreements.
Through Providence Legal Co, Sylvia delivers commercially grounded, IP-focused legal support to businesses where intellectual property is a core asset.
